It is no secret that we are in a fierce battle against an enemy that hates us more than we could ever imagine. He wants to chew us up and spit us out. He wants us to quit.

He wants to make sure we are afraid to give our hearts totally to Jesus because if we do; if we realize the power we have in Jesus; if we understand that nothing can stop us when we give ourselves completely to our God; if we let ourselves believe that Jesus really is the only way and this world will offer nothing but emptiness and frustration, and we put off the weight of this world and the sin that holds us back, JESUS WINS!!!! Satan loses and the fires of revival will ignite and there will be a spiritual tsunami that will sweep across this community and swell out into the rest of the state and possibly the nation.

The question we have to ask ourselves is this; is it worth the fight? Is it worth the work? Is it worth the sacrifice? Our nation won its independence because men and women believed in something worth fighting for; giving their lives for. Our nation’s freedom floats on the blood of the people that gave their all. It is a temporal freedom. It is a freedom that is eroding and is gradually being taken away by people that didn’t sacrifice anything to gain it so they don’t appreciate it. It no longer seems to be worth the fight to a lot of people. (By the way if you don’t have any sacrificial skin in the game the game won’t be worth your time. Just sayin’. Talk more about this in a moment.)

Freedom has turned into anything goes. Freedom is the ability to live however I want with no restraints and I don’t have to pay any consequences for my actions. Freedom is the ability to live off the system. Freedom is my choice to kill my child if “it” is in the way. Freedom is the ability to choose my lifestyle and/or my gender. (Did you know the transgender community has a 40% suicide rate? Now that reeks of ‘freedom’ doesn’t it?) Freedom is the ability to tell people that disagree with me that they aren’t free to voice their opinion because I see it as hate if they have a standard that opposes me. (Isn’t letting people destroy themselves and never speaking out hate? If I hate you I don’t care what kind of destructive behavior you engage in.)

This kind of freedom is bringing in more bondage, higher suicide rates, drug addiction, and dysfunction than this country has ever seen. (The USA has one of the highest incarceration rates in the world. North Korea and Seychelles possibly have us beat. Really? Is this what real freedom looks like?)

Which brings me back to my original point: We are in a fierce battle against an enemy that hates us more than we could ever imagine. He wants to chew us up and spit us out. He wants us to quit. He wants to make sure we are afraid to give our hearts totally to Jesus because if we do; if we realize the power we have in Jesus; if we understand that nothing can stop us when we give ourselves completely to our God; if we let ourselves believe that Jesus really is the only way and this world will offer nothing but emptiness, frustration, (and incarceration), and we put off the weight of this world and the sin that holds us back, JESUS WINS!!!! Satan loses and the fires of revival will ignite and there will be a spiritual tsunami that will sweep across this community and swell out into the rest of the state and possibly the nation. (Was this a repeat of the 1st paragraph? Absolutely! Read it again if you need to. It is a point we better not miss.)

Is it worth the fight? Our national freedom and greatness isn’t the only thing that floats on blood. Our relationship with our creator God is soaked in the blood of his only begotten Son. If blood bought followers of Jesus would stop following the idols of worldly pleasure and start bending their knee to the one who created them and gave them eternal forgiveness and the hope of peace on earth and eternal joy the world would see a picture of real freedom.

Paul gives us an example of how much it is worth in his letter to the Philippians church. Phil 3:7-10 7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the Excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable to his death…

What?! Everything that is not of Christ is (excuse the expression) crap? How do you feel about that? Well listen to this; v.10 gives the outcome of counting all things but loss and dung; you get to know Jesus and you gain the power of his resurrection through the fellowship of his suffering. “…being made conformable to his death…” When you die to yourself you come alive in Jesus Christ. If you are alive in Jesus Christ, you are free.

Jesus said “I am the way.” There is no other road to God. “I am the truth.” “You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free… and you will be free indeed.” There is no other road to freedom. “I am the life.” He created all life. Life is sustained by him. (Look at Col. 1:16-17.)

Our enemy, Satan, has a way of making the lie sound more appealing than the truth. He has a lot of us convinced that Jesus is a restraint, holding us down, not allowing us to enjoy life. It is the exact opposite. The closer we are to Jesus the more peace, fulfillment, and freedom we encounter. Free to live without the restraints of addiction. Free to live without self-inflicted consequences to sin. Free to have a peace that surpasses all understanding. Phil. 4:6-7

So one more time; this is why we need to have perfect clarity on Our enemy, Satan, has a way of making the lie sound more appealing than the truth. Is it worth the fight? You have to answer that question for yourself. Then you will have to face the consequences of your decision. Will you stand with that famous Israeli general who challenged his countrymen with this statement: “Choose ye this day whom you shall serve… As for me and my house we will serve the LORD!”
